The origin of the Colombian coffee magic

A short chronology of the arrival of coffee to Colombia

We are a brand with history, from the roots of our creator to the production process of our coffee, we have stories that we tell through each one of our products; but today we are not here to talk about Don Ray, because we want to take you on a journey to the origins of this beverage that we are so passionate about and that drives us. We want to talk to you about the best coffee in the world and about its arrival in the country that produces it: Colombia.

Approximately 300 years ago, in 1730, the first coffee beans were brought to Colombian lands by Jesuit monks when it was still recognized as New Granada. The introduction of this new substrate quickly became an impulse for the farming families and for the economy; but what was incredible was that these first seeds came from France and Holland, places where it was considered an exclusive product of royalty that only in the right place could grow with the quality and flavor that we know today. That is how it arrived in Colombia, but little by little, that magic that identifies one of the best in the world began to become a reality.

100 years later the panorama was different; production had increased to such an extent that in the customs office of Cúcuta processes were carried out to export the first official sacks of coffee abroad, which marked a before and after in the coffee history of the country, since it opened the doors of internationalization to a product that had arrived from abroad, to remain forever in the DNA of the national culture. The proof of the above is that it is said that one of the major causes of the increase in its production was Francisco Romero, a priest who instituted the sowing of the coveted bean as a form of redemption of guilt, causing many Colombians to become coffee growers out of conviction.

With time, production was massified and new ways of sowing and exporting were created, but nevertheless, 300 years later, the same passion for coffee continues to run through the blood of every Colombian. A seed that became roots, roots of a culture and that later gave its fruits to become one of the most desired export products around the world. Because this is not only a story, but there are also thousands of them, that today are told daily around a cup of good coffee.
